Five-day Teacher Trainings in Yerevan State University

5-Day teacher training courses organised in Yerevan State University.

A range of teacher trainings on innovative teaching skills development was organised at Yerevan State University (YSU) within the period of January 31 – February 7, 2023 on the account of the results and suggestions of the feedback of participants of “Teaching and Learning Methods” thematic discussion which took place in YSU on November 22, 2022. The range of teacher trainings was organized with the support of YSU Quality assurance centre as well as with the initiative of the National office of ERASMUS+ in Armenia and the Armenian team of ERASMUS+ PRINTeL capacity development programme. Representatives of  all HEIs in Armenia were able to preliminarily register and participate in the trainings. The number of the people interested and wishing to take part was great, however provided with the limited number of places 25-28 teachers had the chance to participate in the course of each day. The trainings consisted of 5 lectures dedicated to the current methods of teaching and learning.

“Active learning and application of active learning methods within the context of digital educational environment” training took place on January 31, 2023. It was conducted by Lilit Sargsyan, lecturer at the faculty of European languages and communication.

“The advantages and constraints of flipped classroom model” training was held on the second day of the trainings. The lecture was conducted by Serob Khachatryan, lecturer at the faculty of Philosophy and Psychology.

On the third of the trainings “Videos as tools for learning” topic was discussed. The training was conducted by Marine Yaghubyan, lecturer at the faculty of European languages and communication.

The topic of the fourth day – “Hybrid/blended teaching and learning” of the training was also very interesting. The course was conducted by Liana Gabrielyan, associate professor at the faculty of Chemistry.

The topic of the final fifth day of the trainings was “Active learning and digital technologies in teaching process: mobile learning and gamification”. The course was conducted by Silva Petrosyan, lecturer at the faculty of Philosophy and psychology.
